Łomnica Palace
The history of property in Łomnica dates back to the end of the 15th century. Prominent families of von Zedlitz and von Tomagninich were inscribed in the history of the place. Between 1835 and 1945 the palace and the surrounding it lands remained in the hands of the von Küster family.
In the second half of the 17th century, an early-baroque manor was built by the Bóbr river. Its shape, despite numerous renovations and reconstructions, remained the same until modernity. A characteristic baroque corpus with two bow windows is a hallmark of the palaces from Jeleniogórska Basin.
A museum operates inside the Łomnica Palace building in which a true journey in time may be taken. The tour commences from the first half of the 18th century and ends in the 20th century. One may admire old furniture and everyday use items from the past centuries as well as works of art decorating the palace walls. The exhibition ensures authentic climate of individual rooms thanks to which the aura of sophisticated office of Christian Mentzl from the 18th century was preserved further to the stylish dining room of the ambassador Carl Gustav Ernst von Küster from the 19th century. The interiors of the school till from communist Poland constitute a contract for these rooms since after World War II the palace was transformed into the local primary school.
The Łomnica Palace is located by the Bóbr river, almost 10 km away from the centre of Jelenia Góra. The former buildings were adjusted to tourist purposes. Restaurants and souvenir shops operate there these days. A bit further along, behind the main entrance to the palace, in the Widow House hidden in the shade of the trees, one will encounter a hotel. The river is the only thing separating it from the park surrounding yet another palace the Wojanów Palace.
